About THEMA, a Canal+ Company

THEMA is a production and distribution company operating across Pay TV, FAST and non-linear platforms. THEMA’s production activities are conducted through its owned production companies Rok and Zacu, and its minority shareholding in Marodi, which primarily produce TV series. This content is used to feed THEMA’s thematic channels and is also sold to third-party local TV channels and platforms. THEMA’s production capabilities result in approximately 1,500 hours of content annually, a significant portion of which is produced in-house. THEMA also produces 23 channels in 10 different languages and supports the group’s activities in Africa, in particular by handling the distribution and sale of African productions and co-productions in Africa.
On the distribution front, THEMA focuses on delivering multicultural content bundles. In France, it primarily distributes African content bundles through ISPs, targeting diasporas, bringing a taste of local African content to those with an African heritage in France. An example is the “Bouquet Africain” package (with more than 25 African TV channels live or on replay). THEMA holds distribution mandates for third-party channels as well as group’s channels across more than 80 countries worldwide. This international distribution operates on a revenue-sharing model, where THEMA earns a commission on the revenues generated by such channels abroad.
